Estrogenic chemicals are suspected of affecting cancer risk and male reproduction, possibly involving oxidative DNA damage. In this study, formation of 7,8‐dihydro‐8‐oxo‐2′‐deoxyguanosine (8‐oxodG), was measured in testicular cells from rats after 17 a‐ethinylestradiol (EE) exposure in vivo and in vitro after incubation with EE with or without an antiestro‐gen. In vivo, preadult (30–35 days) and adult (110–120 days) Wistar rats received 0, 2.8, or 56 mg EE/kg body weight as intraperitoneal…
DNA adduct formation and oxidative stress in colon and liver of Big Blue rats after dietary exposure to diesel particles.
TLDR
The data indicate that gastrointestinal exposure to DEP induces DNA adducts and oxidative stress resulting in DNA strand breaks, enhanced repair capacity of oxidative base damage, apoptosis and protein oxidation in colon mucosa cells and liver.
Dynamics of estrogen-induced oxidative stress.
TLDR
Assessment of the dynamics of oxidative damage to cellular macromolecules such as proteins, lipids and DNA under conditions of oxidative stress triggering early stages of estrogen-dependent carcinogenesis found proteins appear to be the primary target of the damage but are closely followed by DNA.
The Effect of Early Mosquito Insecticides Exposure on Spraque Dawley Rat Testis: A Histopathological Feature Towards Malignancy?
TLDR
Exposure to mosquito insecticides causes significant changes in testicular germ and Leydig cell histological features that leads to malignancy.
Association between 8-oxo-7,8-dihydro-2′-deoxyguanosine Excretion and Risk of Postmenopausal Breast Cancer: Nested Case–Control Study
Background: Oxidative stress may be important in carcinogenesis and a possible risk factor for breast cancer. The urinary excretion of oxidatively generated biomolecules, such as

Role of reactive oxygen in synthetic estrogen induction of hepatocellular carcinomas in rats and preventive effect of vitamins.
TLDR
The results suggest that free radicals play an important role in the induction of HCC by estrogen and the effects of concomitant vitamin C, vitamin E or beta-carotene administration on hepatocarcinogenesis.
Changes of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine levels in rat organ DNA during the aging process.
TLDR
The results indicate that the accumulation of oxidative DNA damage during the aging process varies among organs, with slight sex difference.
8-Hydroxylation of guanine bases in kidney and liver DNA of hamsters treated with estradiol: role of free radicals in estrogen-induced carcinogenesis.
TLDR
Levels of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine, a marker product of hydroxy radical interaction with DNA, in livers and kidneys of hamsters treated with estradiol support a mechanism of estrogen-induced carcinogenesis by free radicals generated via redox cycling of catecholestrogen metabolites.
A metabolite of equine estrogens, 4-hydroxyequilenin, induces DNA damage and apoptosis in breast cancer cell lines.
TLDR
4-OHEN causes concentration-dependent DNA single-strand cleavage in all three cell lines, and this effect could be enhanced by agents which catalyze redox cycling (NADH) or deplete cellular GSH (diethyl maleate).
Glutathione S-transferase in hormonal carcinogenesis.
Oxidative damage to DNA during aging: 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine in rat organ DNA and urine.
TLDR
The results suggest that the age-dependent accumulation of oh8dG residues observed in DNA from liver, kidney, and intestine is principally due to the slow loss of DNA nuclease activity; however, an increase in the rate of oxidative DNA damage cannot be ruled out.
Elevated 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine levels in DNA of diethylstilbestrol-treated Syrian hamsters: covalent DNA damage by free radicals generated by redox cycling of diethylstilbestrol.
TLDR
It was concluded that in vitro and in vivo redox cycling of diethylstilbestrol hydroxylated guanine bases in DNA is safe and effective.
