Abstract DNA sequences from the nuclear LSU and ITS regions were used for phylogenetic analyses of Thelephorales with a focus on the stipitate hydnoid genera Hydnellum and Sarcodon. Analyses showed that Hydnellum and Sarcodon are distinct genera but that the current division, based on basidioma texture, makes Sarcodon paraphyletic with respect to Hydnellum. In order to make genera monophyletic several species are moved from Sarcodon to Hydnellum and the following new combinations are made…

Morphology and molecular phylogeny reveal five new species of Hydnellum (Bankeraceae, Thelephorales) from China

Five new species of Hydnellum are described from China based on morphological characters and phylogenetic analyses inferred from two datasets of ITS + LSU and ITS +LSU + SSU + RPB2 sequences.

Taxonomy and Phylogeny Reveal Two New Potential Edible Ectomycorrhizal Mushrooms of Thelephora from East Asia

The ectomycorrhizal basidiomycetes genus Thelephora has been understudied in subtropical ecosystems. Many species of Thelephora are important edible and medicinal fungi, with substantial economic

Hydnaceous fungi of China 8. Morphological and molecular identification of three new species of Sarcodon and a new record from southwest China

Three new stipitate hydnoid fungi, Sarcodon coactus, S. grosselepidotus and S. lidongensis, are described and illustrated and molecular analyses confirm the phylogenetic positions of three new and the new record species.

Six New Species of Tomentella (Thelephorales, Basidiomycota) From Tropical Pine Forests in Central Vietnam

Six new species of basidiomycetous genus Tomentella are described and illustrated on the basis of morphological characteristics and molecular phylogenetic analyses of the nuclear ribosomal ITS and LSU markers and all of them can be well recognized by the macroscopical and anatomical characteristics.

Multi-Gene Phylogeny and Taxonomy of Hydnellum (Bankeraceae, Basidiomycota) from China

The phylogenetic position of Hydnellum is revealed, and phylogenetically confirmed ten major clades in Thelephorales are confirmed, and a classification system based on the morphological characteristics and molecular analyses is proposed to accommodate most species inHydnellum.

A Phylogenetic and Taxonomic Study on Phellodon (Bankeraceae, Thelephorales) from China

This is the first time both single and multi-genes analysis is used in such a phylogenetic and taxonomic study on Phellodon, which can provide the basis for the phylogenetic study of the genus.

Basidiomycete diversity within Calabrian pine (Pinus brutia) ecosystems on the island of Cyprus

The posting of a new mycobiota on the Mycotaxon website: "Basidiomycete diversity within Calabrian pine (Pinus brutia) ecosystems on the island of Cyprus" by Michael Loizides brings to 146 the number of free access Fungae now available.

A Mechanistic Review on Medicinal Mushrooms-Derived Bioactive Compounds: Potential Mycotherapy Candidates for Alleviating Neurological Disorders

The role of the medicinal properties of different medicinal mushrooms that contain bioactive compounds with a protective effect against neuronal dysfunction will facilitate the development of drugs against neurodegenerative diseases.

Fungal Systematics and Evolution

Phylogenetic analyses revealed that this ascomycete forms a lineage within Mycosphaerellaceae distant from all other generic lineages, and Pedrocrousiella pongamiae clusters in a clade containing Distocercospora, Clypeosphaerella, and “Pseudocerospora” nephrolepidicola, a species which is not congeneric with PseudocercOSpora.

Sarcodon in the Neotropics II: four new species from Colombia and a key to the regional species

Four species of the ectomycorrhizal tooth fungus genus Sarcodon recently discovered in the Colombian Amazon are reported on, and molecular phylogenetic analysis corroborated the generic placement, and, in combination with morphological characters, confirmed that they are new to science.

Sarcodon in the Neotropics I: new species from Guyana, Puerto Rico and Belize

Four species of the ectomycorrhizal (ECM) genus Sarcodon (Bankeraceae, Thelephorales, Basidiomycota) are described as new to science and each is morphologically consistent with accepted diagnostic characters for SARCodon: pileate-stipitate stature, a dentate hymenophore, determinate basidiomatal development, fleshy, non-zonate context and brown, tuberculate basidiaospores.

Molecular validation of Sarcodon quercinofibulatus, a species of the S. imbricatus complex associated with Fagaceae, and notes on Sarcodon

Four sections of Sarcodon (Sarcodon, Violacei, Squamiceps and Scabrosi) established by Maas Geesteranus only on morphological basis, are confirmed as monophyletic.

Hydnellum dianthifolium sp. nov. ( Basidiomycota, Thelephorales ) , a new tooth-fungus from southern Europe with notes on H. concrescens and H. scrobiculatum

The new species Hydnellum dianthifolium is described and illustrated from Pinus brutia forests in Cyprus and southern Italy. Evidence from ITS-based phylogenetic and morphological analyses, including

Sarcodon imbricatus and S. squamosus — two confused species

It was found that fruit bodiesgrowing with Pinus sylvestris seemed to be superior for dyeing compared to fruit bodies growing with Picea abies, and macroscopical differences between the forms indicated that they are different taxa.

Thelephora dominicana (Basidiomycota, Thelephorales), a new species from the Dominican Republic, and preliminary notes on thelephoroid genera
