Cyclin D1 regulates G1 cell cycle progression by controlling the phosphorylation of the retinoblastoma protein. This pathway is frequently deregulated in many malignancies. In neuroblastoma, however, no consistent G1 cell cycle checkpoint aberrations have been found.
