The Yellow Leaf Disease, with phytoplasmal etiology, is a serious disease affecting arecanut palms and causing substantial yield loss. Phytoplasmas are cell wall less, unculterable, phloem limited plant pathogens generally detected using microscopy, serology and molecular techniques.
