We present a detailed investigation of the impurity screening cloud in the resonant level model. The screening is visible in the structure of impurity–bath correlators as a function of distance from the impurity. We characterize the screening cloud through scaling analyses of impurity–bath correlators and entanglement entropies. We devise and study several situations where the screening cloud is destroyed or modified: finite temperatures, energetic detuning of the impurity from the chemical… Expand

Dynamics of the impurity screening cloud following quantum quenches of the Resonant Level Model
We present a detailed analysis of the evolution of impurity screening cloud in the Resonant Level Model (RLM) followed by quenches of system parameters. The considered quenches are either local orExpand
Nonequilibrium spatiotemporal formation of the Kondo screening cloud on a lattice
We study the nonequilibrium formation of a spin screening cloud that accompanies the quenching of a local magnetic moment immersed in a Fermi sea at zero temperature. Based on high-precision densityExpand

Solving Quantum Impurity Problems in and out of Equilibrium with the Variational Approach.
TLDR
A versatile and efficient variational approach is developed to solve in- and out-of-equilibrium problems of generic quantum spin-impurity systems, and a new canonical transformation is presented that completely decouples the impurity and bath degrees of freedom. Expand
Variational principle for quantum impurity systems in and out of equilibrium: Application to Kondo problems

Coherent charge and spin oscillations induced by local quenches in nanowires with spin-orbit coupling
When a local and attractive potential is quenched in a nanowire, the spectrum changes its topology from a purely continuum to a continuum and discrete portion. We show that, under appropriateExpand
Quantum Spin in an Environment
A quantum system that strongly correlates with an external world is ubiquitous in nature. There, one has to deal with the strong entanglement between the system and the environment. Ideally, this canExpand

Resolving the nonequilibrium Kondo singlet in energy- and position-space using quantum measurements
The Kondo effect, a hallmark of strong correlation physics, is characterized by the formation of an extended cloud of singlet states around magnetic impurities at low temperatures. While manyExpand
