The contaminants present as nonaqueous phase liquids (NAPLs) in the subsurface are long-term sources for groundwater pollution. Fenton-like reaction catalyzed by natural iron oxides such as goethite in soils is one of the feasible in situ chemical reactions used to remediate contaminated sites.
