Type III dyslipidaemia (dysbetalipoproteinaemia) is a rare disorder affecting between 1 and 10 per 10000 people in the general population. 1±3 The diagnosis is usually based on ultracentrifugation, followed by electrophoretic demonstration of -VLDL and/or a VLDL cholesterol to plasma triglyceride molar ratio of 0´69. 1±4
