Using Channel Output Feedback to Increase Throughput in Hybrid-ARQ
Recently, hybrid-ARQ attracts significant research efforts due to the emergence of high speed data packet access (HSDPA) standard. Turbo-coded hybrid-ARQ was reported to have very good performance under block fading channels. In this paper, we investigate new hybrid ARQ schemes using rateless codes. The simulation results show that at low SNR the rateless-coded hybrid-ARQ outperforms Turbo-coded hybrid-ARQ in terms of bit error rate in block fading channel under QPSK and 16-QAM modulation. We also propose schemes applying length estimation on rateless-coded hybrid-ARQ to improve the data transmission rate.
