Practical methods for rate-controlled drug dosing are bringing new capabilities to both therapeutics and experimental pharmacology, arising from the ability to maintain drug concentrations in plasma at desired levels for extended periods. Such dosing can prolong the duration of drug action and help to separate the beneficial effects of a drug from its undesirable actions.
