The currents generated by noise-induced activation processes in a periodic potential are investigated analytically, by digital simulation and by performing analog experiments. The noise is taken to be quasimonochromatic and the potential to be a smoothed sawtooth. Two analytic approaches are studied. The first involves a perturbative expansion in inverse powers of the frequency characterizing quasimonochromatic noise and the second is a direct numerical integration of the deterministic…
Asymmetry of Coordinate and Velocity in Noisy Oscillator
The velocity variable of a noise oscillator as an internal or external noise is proposed, the spectrum of which is quite different from that of the coordinate variable of the same noise oscillator.
Harmonic Noise-Induced Resonant Passing in an Inverse Harmonic Potential
The problem of a Brownian particle driven by harmonic noise passing over the saddle point in an inverse harmonic potential is studied. The passing probability over the saddle point is obtained
Brownian motors: noisy transport far from equilibrium
Abstract Transport phenomena in spatially periodic systems far from thermal equilibrium are considered. The main emphasis is put on directed transport in so-called Brownian motors (ratchets), i.e. a
QUANTUM BROWNIAN MOTION IN A PERIODIC POTENTIAL: THE PATH INTEGRAL FOR A SUPER-OHMIC BATH
The problem of a Brownian particle in a super-Ohmic bath under the effect of a periodic tilted potential is studied. The quantum dissipative dynamics is formulated in terms of the influence
