Abstract Lonicerae japonicae Flos (LJF) and Lonicerae Flos (LF) are widely-used herbs derived from several plants of the genus Lonicera with similar appearances. LF are usually misused or counterfeited as LJF for economically motivated adulteration. However, the saponins in LF may cause serious side-effects.
