The Cal Poly ITRC irrigation evaluation programs have been widely used to assess the global distribution uniformity (DU) of drip and microsprayer irrigation systems. The field procedures and formulas used in the program are presented in this paper. The system DU is estimated by mathematically combining the component DU values. DU components include pressure differences, “other causes” (such as manufacturing variation, plugging, and wear), unequal drainage, and unequal application rates. Results… Expand

Adjusting irrigation uniformity coefficients for unimportant variability on a small scale
Abstract Distribution Uniformity (DU) and the Coefficient of Uniformity (CU) are commonly used irrigation performance measures of how evenly water is applied across a field during irrigation. TheExpand
Evaluation of drip irrigation: Selection of emitters and hydraulic characterization of trapezoidal units
Abstract The primary focus of this paper is on the estimation of potential application efficiency in drip irrigation units. For this purpose, a new procedure for field evaluation of waterExpand
Hydraulic and Statistical Analyses of Design Emission Uniformity of Trickle Irrigation Systems
AbstractThe important evaluation parameter in trickle irrigation is emission uniformity. There are two different methods to calculate emission uniformity; (1) field evaluation for the subunit and (2)Expand
Effect of Pulse Drip Irrigation Duration on Water Distribution Uniformity
Developing an appropriate irrigation schedule is essential in order to save water while at the same time maintaining high crop yields. The standard procedures of the field evaluation of distributionExpand
Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Drip Tape Layout for Irrigation of Sugarcane in Latosol
A mathematical model of soil water movement under drip irrigation from single-point source was built using Hydrus-3D, which could accurately simulate the shape of the wetted soil volume and the distribution of volumetric water content in the experiment, and showed that emitter spacing affected irrigation uniformity greatly, but emitter discharge rate did not. Relationships between common irrigation application uniformity indicators
The coefficient of uniformity, CU, and the distribution uniformity, DU, are perhaps the two most common indicators of irrigation application uniformity, especially for pressurized irrigation methods.Expand
Thermal variation and pressure compensated emitters
A number of factors may contribute to the non-uniformity of an unclogged drip irrigation (DI) system. It is understood that DI emitters respond to the thermal changes in the environment resulting inExpand
A Comparison Of Water Application UniformityFor Drip Irrigation System Above And Below SoilSurface At Various Soil Depths And SchedulingTechniques In Arid Region
The uniformity of water application and its stability, however, are still a matter of controversy and deserve more investigation. An experiment was conducted to evaluate the surface and subsurfaceExpand
Assessing Pressure Changes in an On-Demand Water Distribution System on Drip Irrigation Performance—Case Study in Italy
The hydrant pressure head in an on-demand water distribution system can be subject to high fluctuation depending on the discharge flowing inside the pipes, with consequent impacts on the performanceExpand
Accuracy of Global Microirrigation Distribution Uniformity Estimates
Emitter pressures and flow rates were systematically and extensively sampled in one drip and one microspray field. The data distributions are presented. The accuracy of rapid (limited samples)Expand

Estimation of Global Irrigation Distribution Uniformity
For most irrigation systems, the most practical method for determining the global distribution uniformity (i.e., that experienced by the entire crop) is to measure the uniformity resulting fromExpand
Trickle Irrigation Uniformity and Efficiency
Expressions are developed and presented for the pressure head available at any point within a trickle irrigation subunit. Histograms are drawn showing the distributions of pressure within typicalExpand
Evaluating low-volume irrigation systems for emission uniformity
Evaluating the uniformity of discharge by low-volume systems in the field under normal operating conditions found the potential for highly efficient water use when water is uniformly discharged to each plant and irrigations are properly scheduled. Expand
Drip Irrigation Field Uniformity Estimation
ABSTRACT THE coefficient of variation was used to assess the magnitude of emitter flow variation in drip irrigation submain units. Based upon the assumption that emitter flow variation is normallyExpand
Assessing Trickle Emitter Application Uniformity
ABSTRACT A method was developed for showing the uniformity of water application by trickle emitters based on the emitter's coefficient of variation. The derived design uni-formity coefficientExpand
