Inhibition of complement system activation requires the development of soluble nonimmunogenic inhibitors with good tissue penetrating abilities that are themselves unable to activate complement. Chimeric mouse/human Fabs capable of blocking the activity of complement proteins are likely to fulfill these criteria.
