We report the entrapment of horseradish peroxidase and quantitative encapsulation of glucose oxidase within silica nanoparticles by utilizing an amine-terminated dendritic template. Our improved strategy employs a water-soluble biomimetic template which is able to catalyze the condensation of Si(OH)(4) to silica nanoparticles while trapping an enzyme inside the mesoporous material.
