Tigecycline, a novel broad-spectrum glycylcycline antibiotic, is active against many gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial pathogens including most strains of Enterobacter cloacae. Recently, however, a few clinical strains of E. cloacae with decreased susceptibility to tigecycline were isolated.
