}BACKGROUND
A connection between lunate type has been described for medical conditions like Kienbock's disease as well as for wrist osteoarthritis, e.g. STT osteoarthritis. Aim of the Study to investigate the possibility of a relationship between lunate type and the type of wrist injury mainly localised to the scaphoid bone.
MATERIAL AND METHODS
394 PA and lateral radiographs of the wrist (n = 394) were subjected to a detailed assessment by two independent surgeons. The X-rays were selected…

To evaluate the frequency of different lunate types and their influence on the prevalence and severity of scapholunate ligament (SLIL) injuries and the development of DISI, Fisher's exact test was applied and Cohen's kappa was calculated.

Fasciotomy treatment was associated with a higher likelihood of patients presenting with forearm compartment syndrome to experience unfavorable outcomes, which can help guide awareness of potential sequelae of treatment choices in forearm compartment Syndrome, and clinical decision-making for wise patient selection for surgical intervention, when necessary.

The data indicate that osteoarthritis of the hamate or lunate is less likely to be a cause of ulnar-sided wrist pain in Bahraini Arabs, which could be attributed to a genetic variation in the Arab population in Bahrain.

The prevalence of type II lunate might vary in different population groups and further studies could be necessary to confirm this observation, but osteoarthritis of the hamate or lunate may play a less significant role in causing ulnar-sided wrist pain in Malays.
