: We develop a model of eternal topological inflation using a racetrack potential within the context of type IIB string theory with KKLT volume stabilization. The inflaton field is the imaginary part of the K¨ahler structure modulus, which is an axion-like field in the 4D effective field theory. This model does not require moving branes, and in this sense it is simpler than other models of string theory inflation. Contrary to single-exponential models, the structure of the potential in this example…

We present a new version of our racetrack inflation scenario which, unlike our original proposal, is based on an explicit compactification of type IIB string theory: the Calabi-Yau manifold

### Accidental inflation in string theory

We show that inflation in type IIB string theory driven by the volume modulus can be realized in the context of the racetrack-based Kallosh–Linde model (KL) of moduli stabilization. Inflation here

### Constraints on modular inflation in supergravity and string theory

• Economics
• 2008
We perform a general algebraic analysis on the possibility of realising slow-roll inflation in the moduli sector of string models. This problem turns out to be very closely related to the

### Towards matter ination in heterotic string theory

• Mathematics

Recently, a class of inflation models in supergravity with gauge non-singlet matter fields as the inflation has been proposed. It is based on a ‘tribrid’ structure in the superpotential and on a

### Inflation in no-scale String Models

This thesis studies the question of how de Sitter vacua and slow-roll inflation may be realized in string-motivated models. More specifically, we consider 4d N = 1 supergravity theories (without

### Multibrane inflation and dynamical flattening of the inflaton potential

We investigate the problem of fine tuning of the potential in the KKLMMT warped flux compactification scenario for brane-antibrane inflation in Type IIB string theory. We argue for the importance of

### Kahler moduli inflation revisited

• Mathematics

We perform a detailed numerical analysis of inflationary solutions in Kahler moduli of type IIB flux compactifications. We show that there are inflationary solutions even when all the fields play an

### De Sitter vacua in string theory

• Mathematics

We outline the construction of metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory. Our starting point is highly warped IIB compactifications with nontrivial NS and RR three-form fluxes. By

We construct a model of inflation in string theory after carefully taking into account moduli stabilization. The setting is a warped compactification of type IIB string theory in the presence of D3-

It is shown that string theory has two generic types of domain walls which could be the seeds for inflation, and it is argued that modular physics provides a very robust model of inflation.

We extend a recent scenario of Kachru, Kallosh, Linde and Trivedi to fix the string moduli fields by using a combination of fluxes and non-perturbative superpotentials, leading to de Sitter vacua. In

A proposal is made for a cosmological D3-D7 model with a constant magnetic flux along the D7 world volume. It describes an $\mathcal{N}=2$ gauge model with Fayet-Iliopoulos terms and the potential of

We analyse the cosmological implications of brane-antibrane systems in string-theoretic orbifold and orientifold models. In a class of realistic models, consistency conditions require branes and

We find successful models of D-brane/anti-brane inflation within a string context. We work within the GKP-LT class of type IIB string vacua for which many moduli are stabilized through fluxes, as
