Juvenile hormone controls the timing of insect metamorphosis. As a final step of juvenile hormone biosynthesis, juvenile hormone acid O-methyltransferase (JHAMT) transfers the methyl group from S-adenosyl-l-methionine to the carboxyl group of farnesoic acid and juvenile hormone acid.
