To enhance the antifungal response of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.), transgenic plants were generated by transferring rice chitinase gene driven by a maize-ubiquitin promoter along with its first intron into the zygotic embryos via Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation.
