THE PROVINCE OF QUEBEC STUDIED ACCIDENTS ON A 7-MI LONG, 6-LANE ELEVATED EXPRESSWAY IN MONTREAL. MANY CAUSES FOR THE HIGH RATE OF ACCIDENTS WERE FOUND, BUT MAINLY IT WAS DUE TO POOR PERFORMANCE OF THE GUIDE RAIL SYSTEM. STUDIES WERE THEN CONDUCTED FOR THE DESIGN OF A NEW RAIL SYSTEM TO MEET THE ACTUAL TRAFFIC CONDITIONS.
