The unconventional density wave (UDW) was speculated on as a possible electronic ground state in the excitonic insulator in 1968. The recent surge of interest in UDW's is partly due to the proposal that the pseudogap phase in high Tc cuprate superconductors is a d-wave density wave (d-DW). Here we review our recent works on UDW's within the framework of mean field theory. In particular, we have shown that many properties of the low temperature phase (LTP) in α-(BEDT-TTF)2MHg(SCN)4, with M=K, Rb…
Unconventional Density Waves in Organic Conductors and in Superconductors
Unconventional density waves (UDW) are one of the ground states in metallic crystalline solids and have been speculated already in 1968. However, more focused studies on UDW started only recently,
Unconventional density wave as possible explanation of the Nernst signal in CeCoIn5
Recently large Nernst effect and Seebeck effect were observed above the superconducting transition temperature 2.3 K in a heavy fermion superconductor CeCoIn5. We interpret this large Nernst effect
Unconventional charge-density waves driven by electron-phonon coupling
We report our study on unconventional charge-density waves (UCDW) (i.e., a charge-density wave with a wave vector dependent gap) in pure quasi-one-dimensional conductors. We develop a possible
Gossamer superconductivity, new paradigm?
We shall review our recent works on d‐wave density wave (dDW) and gossamer superconductivity (i.e. d‐wave superconductivity in the presence of dDW) in high‐T c cuprates and CeCoIn5. a) We show that
Local density of states and Friedel oscillations around a nonmagnetic impurity in unconventional density waves
We present a mean-field theoretical study on the effect of a single nonmagnetic impurity in quasi-one-dimensional unconventional density wave. The scattering potential is treated within the
Magnetotransport in d-wave density waves
Angle-dependent magnetoresistance (ADMR) and giant Nernst effect are hallmarks of unconventional density waves (UDW). Here these transport properties for d-wave density wave (d-DW) are computed for
Gapped optical excitations from gapless phases: Imperfect nesting in unconventional density waves
We consider the effect of imperfect nesting in quasi-one-dimensional unconventional density waves in the case, when the imperfect nesting and the gap depends on the same wavevector component. The
Unconventional Charge Density Wave Arising from Electron–Phonon Interaction
Abstract We report of a theoretical study on quasi-one dimensional unconventional charge density wave (UCDW) driven by electron–phonon interaction. Within mean field theory, we find that the
High‐Tc cuprate superconductivity as a new paradigm
High‐Tc cuprate superconductivity was discovered two decades ago by Bednorz and Müller. Even now the origin and the nature of this remarkable group of superconductors appear to be hotly debated in

Theory of unconventional spin density wave: A possible mechanism of the micromagnetism in u-based heavy fermion compounds
We propose a novel spin density wave (SDW) state as a possible mechanism of the anomalous antiferromagnetism, so-called the micromagnetism, in URu_2Si_2 below 17.5[K]. In this new SDW, the
Unconventional spin density wave in (TMTSF)2PF6 below T*4 K
The presence of subphases in spin-density wave (SDW) phase of (TMTSF)_2PF_6 below T* \approx 4 K has been suggested by several experiments but the nature of the new phase is still controversial. We
Unconventional charge-density wave in the organic conductor alpha-(BEDT-TTF)2KHg(SCN)4.
The present model accounts for many striking features of ADMR data in alpha-(BEDT-TTF)2KHg(SCN)(4) salt and theoretically ADMR in unconventional (or nodal) charge-density wave (UCDW).
Impurity effects in unconventional density waves in the unitary limit
We investigate the effect of strong, nonmagnetic impurities on quasi-one-dimensional conventional and unconventional density waves (UDW). The conventional case remains unaffected similarly to s-wave
Thermodynamics and optical conductivity of unconventional spin density waves
Abstract:We consider the possibility of formation of an unconventional spin density wave (USDW) in quasi-one-dimensional electronic systems. In analogy with unconventional superconductivity, we
Magnetic field dependence of the threshold electric field in unconventional charge density waves
Many experiments suggest that the unidentified low-temperature phase of α-(BEDT-TTF) 2 KHg(SCN) 4 is most likely unconventional charge density wave (UCDW). To further extend this identification we
The angular-dependent magnetoresistance in α(BEDT- TTF)2KHg(SCN)4
The present model appears to account for many existing ADMR data of α-(BEDT-TTF)2 KHg(SCN)4 remarkably well, and assuming that LTP is unconventional charge density wave (UCDW) the quasi-particle spectrum in UCDW is quantized, which gives rise to striking ADMR in U CDW.
Semimetallic SDW State in Quasi One-Dimensional Conductors
A quasi one-dimensional Hubbard model embodying features of (TMTSF) 2 PF 6 etc. was studied. The SDW gap equation derived by a variational method is solved. The gap parameter is derived at OK and at
Entropy of vortex cores near the superconductor-insulator transition in an underdoped cuprate.
The temperature dependence of the thermoelectric Hall angle provides strong constraints on the possible origins of the finite Nernst signal above T(c), as recently discovered by Xu et al.
Impurity scattering in unconventional density waves
We have investigated the effect of nonmagnetic impurities on the quasi-one-dimensional unconventional density wave (UDW) ground state. The thermodynamics were found to be close to those of a d-wave
