The paper describes a complete workflow for the 3-D photogrammetric surveying and modeling of complex architectonical objects. The application is focused to the major spire of the Dome of Milan, that is characterized by the well known striking vertical geometry and a high level of complexity. Because no positions from which capturing images and scans exists, a 5 kg payload model helicopter has been used to lift and carry a calibrated digital camera, which has been adopted to capture images for…

PHOTOGRAMMETRIC RECONSTRUCTION OF THE MY SON “ G 1 ” TEMPLE IN VIETNAM

My Sơn Sanctuary comprehends several ancient Hindu temples and is the most foremost heritage site of this nature in Vietnam. Part of the complex is today seriously damaged and needs restoration

TOWARDS FULLY AUTOMATIC PHOTOGRAMMETRIC RECONSTRUCTION USING DIGITAL IMAGES TAKEN FROM UAVS

This paper shows that an unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with digital cameras can provide valuable visual information about the Earth’s surface rapidly and at low cost from nearly any viewpoint and demonstrates an end-to-end workflow to process a sizeable block of such imagery in a fully automated manner.

Scalable Scene Reconstruction and Image Based Localization

This thesis introduces an algorithm for non-monotone reasoning about view triplets which enables to identify mismatches caused by scene repetitions and proposes a compressed 3D scene representation which improves recognition rates while simultaneously reducing computation time and memory consumption.

An Automated Technique for Generating Georectified Mosaics from Ultra-High Resolution Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Imagery, Based on Structure from Motion (SfM) Point Clouds

This paper presents a technique for geometric correction and mosaicking of UAV photography using feature matching and Structure from Motion (SfM) photogrammetric techniques.

High-resolution mapping based on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) to capture paleoseismic offsets along the Altyn-Tagh fault, China

High-resolution UAV data were used to acquire high-resolution imagery and generate topographic data along the Altyn Tagh fault, which is located in a remote high elevation area and shows preserved ancient earthquake surface ruptures.
