  • Raoul Hausmann, the ‘Dadasoph’ and primary theorist of the Berlin dada movement, explored the impact of technology on the mind and body on a number of different levels in his art. This article argues that Hausmann’s poetry and performance practices of 1918 and 1919 prepared the ground for the cybernetic imagery that became prevalent in his caricatures, photomontages and assemblages of 1920 – a type of imagery that continued to be featured prominently in his work well into the 1930s.
