Amphotericin B is a fungicidal substance that is treatment of choice for most systemic fungal infections affecting as cryptococcosis the immunocompromised patients. However, severe side effects have limited the utility of this drug. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antifungal effect of the combination of amphotericin B with quercetin or rutin and as a protective of citotoxic effect. The antifungal activity to amphotericin B, quercetin and rutin alone and in combination was determined…

Figures and Tables from this paper

Antiproliferative and antimicrobial properties of pure and encapsulated rutin
TLDR
The study concludes that rutin can be reconsiderate as a natural active antibacterial agent, while modulation of its solubility by incorporation in β-cyclodextrins is debatable depending on the tested strain.
RUTIN SEMISYNTHETIC DERIVATIVES WITH ANTIFUNGAL PROPERTIES
TLDR
Some water soluble rutin derivatives containing imidazole and benzimidazoles moieties in their chemical structure are synthesised and have shown a good antifungal activity and antibacterial effects also.
Anti-Fungal Efficacy and Mechanisms of Flavonoids
TLDR
This review focuses on various naturally occurring flavonoids and their antifungal activities, modes of action, and synergetic use in combination with conventional drugs.
Antimicrobial Activity of Quercetin: An Approach to Its Mechanistic Principle
TLDR
The antimicrobial activity of quercetin is summarized with a special focus on its mechanistic principle, and the implications for its use as a clinically relevant antimicrobial agent are summarized.
Profiling of Antifungal Activities and In Silico Studies of Natural Polyphenols from Some Plants
TLDR
The study demonstrates that plant-derived products have a high potential to control fungal infections and identifies the mechanism of action of antifungal agents of edible plants.
Looking for new antifungal drugs from flavonoids: impact of the genetic diversity of Candida albicans on the in-vitro response.
TLDR
The goal of this article is to shed light on the extent of genetic variation in C. albicans and how this phenomenon can largely influence the activity of flavonoids against this species.
Bioactivity of medicinal plant extracts against human fungal pathogens and evaluation of toxicity using Vero cells
TLDR
The results suggested that Tradescantia spathacea has the most promising potential for pharmaceutical developments due to its broad spectrum and selective activity against human fungal pathogens.
Phytochemical analysis and antifungal property of Mallotus oppositifolius (Geiseler) Müll.Arg. (Euphorbiaceae)
TLDR
The traditional use of Mallotus oppositifolius leaf for the treatment of fungal infections was supported and the antifungal activity of isolated compounds, fractions and crude extract supported.

In vitro antifungal activities of amphotericin B in combination with acteoside, a phenylethanoid glycoside from Colebrookea oppositifolia.
TLDR
The data presented here support synergism between acteoside and AmB, and it is proposed that a prospective new management strategy for therapeutic application of this combination should be explored.
Multiple effects of green tea catechin on the antifungal activity of antimycotics against Candida albicans.
TLDR
EGCg enhances the antifungal effect of amphotericin B or fluconazole against antimycotic-susceptible and -resistant C. albicans, and is hoped that this may help to avoid the side effects of antimyCotics.
In vitro synergism of concentrated Allium sativum extract and amphotericin B against Cryptococcus neoformans.
TLDR
This study lends laboratory support for the treatment of cryptococcal infections with concentrated garlic extracts and in vitro synergistic fungistatic activity with amphotericin B was demonstrated against all isolates of C. neoformans.
Potentiation of antifungal activity of amphotericin B by essential oil from Cinnamomum cassia
TLDR
The potentiation of amphotericin B obtained in vitro may show promise for the development of less toxic and more effective therapies especially for the treatment of HIV infection.

TLDR
Results indicate that EGCG, which has anticandidal activity causing blockage of the hyphal formation, has the synergism combined with Amp B against disseminated candidiasis.
In Vitro Antifungal Activity of Epigallocatechin 3-O-Gallate against Clinical Isolates of Dermatophytes
TLDR
It is suggested that epigallocatechin 3-O-gallate may be effectively used solely as a possible agent or combined with other antifungal agents for antif fungus therapy in dermatophytosis.
