In recent work, it was argued that quantum computations with inputs and outputs distributed in spacetime, or quantum tasks, impose constraints on entanglement in holographic theories. The resulting constraint was named the connected wedge theorem and can be verified by a direct bulk proof using focusing arguments in general relativity. In this article we extend this work to the context of AdS/BCFT, where an end-of-the-world brane is present in the bulk. By considering quantum tasks which…

Holography as a resource for non-local quantum computation

Under plausible physical assumptions about quantum computation in the bulk, the results imply that non-local quantum computation can be performed for any polynomially complex unitary with a polynomial amount of entanglement.

The connected wedge theorem and its consequences

The n-to-n connected wedge theorem is presented and proved, which considers n input and n output locations at the boundary of an asymptotically AdS2+1 spacetime described by AdS/CFT, and reveals one pattern of entanglement which is sufficient for information processing in a particular class of causal networks.

BCFT in a Black Hole Background: An Analytical Holographic Model

: We study the entanglement phase structure of a holographic boundary conformal field theory (BCFT) in a two-dimensional black hole background. The bulk dual is the AdS 3 black string geometry with a

Bounds on gravitational brane couplings and tomography in AdS3 black hole microstates

We study information theoretic properties of planar black hole microstates in 2 + 1 dimensional asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime, modeled by black holes with an end-of-the-world brane behind

Entanglement phase structure of a holographic BCFT in a black hole background

We compute holographic entanglement entropy for subregions of a BCFT thermal state living on a nongravitating black hole background. The system we consider is doubly holographic and dual to an

Page curve of effective Hawking radiation

We study the generalized entanglement entropy in the higher dimensional two-sided eternal black hole by double holography. By introducing an end-of-the-world ETW brane, which defines the

Defect extremal surface for reflected entropy

Abstract Defect extremal surface is defined by extremizing the Ryu-Takayanagi formula corrected by the quantum defect theory. This is interesting when the AdS bulk contains a defect brane (or

Inconsistency of islands in theories with long-range gravity

In ordinary gravitational theories, any local bulk operator in an entanglement wedge is accompanied by a long-range gravitational dressing that extends to the asymptotic part of the wedge. Islands

Causal structures and nonlocality in double holography

Abstract Double holography plays a crucial role in recent studies of Hawking radiation and information paradox by relating an intermediate picture, in which a dynamical gravity living on an

Conformal rigidity from focusing

The null curvature condition (NCC) is the requirement that the Ricci curvature of a Lorentzian manifold be nonnegative along null directions, which ensures the focusing of null geodesic congruences.

Aspects of AdS/BCFT

A bstractWe expand the results of arXiv:1105.5165, where a holographic description of a conformal field theory defined on a manifold with boundaries (so called BCFT) was proposed, based on AdS/CFT.

Holographic Dual of BCFT

We propose a holographic dual of a conformal field theory defined on a manifold with boundaries, i.e. boundary conformal field theory (BCFT). Our new holography, which may be called AdS/BCFT,

Holographic quantum tasks with regions

Holographic scattering requires a connected entanglement wedge

In AdS/CFT, there can exist local 2-to-2 bulk scattering processes even when local scattering is not possible on the boundary; these have previously been studied in connection with boundary

Information radiation in BCFT models of black holes

In this note, following [1–3], we introduce and study various holographic systems which can describe evaporating black holes. The systems we consider are boundary conformal field theories for which

A monogamy-of-entanglement game with applications to device-independent quantum cryptography

This work considers a game in which two separate laboratories collaborate to prepare a quantum system and are then asked to guess the outcome of a measurement performed by a third party in a random basis on that system, and implies that the optimal guessing probability can be achieved without the use of entanglement.

Information Transfer with a Gravitating Bath

Late-time dominance of entanglement islands plays a critical role in addressing the information paradox for black holes in AdS coupled to an asymptotic non-gravitational bath. A natural question is

Interpolating between multi-boundary wormholes and single-boundary geometries in holography

It is shown that the wormholes can be made traversable, giving an intermediate class of geometries that interpolate between the multi-boundary wormhole and the original geometry that it approximates.
