Two pictures of BPS bound states in Calabi-Yau compactifications of type II string theory exist, one as a set of particles at equilibrium separations from each other, the other as a fusion of D-branes at a single point of space. We show how quiver quantum mechanics smoothly interpolates between the two, and use this, together with recent mathematical results on the cohomology of quiver varieties, to solve some nontrivial ground state counting problems in multi-particle quantum mechanics…
From black holes to quivers
A bstractMiddle cohomology states on the Higgs branch of supersymmetric quiver quantum mechanics — also known as pure Higgs states — have recently emerged as possible microscopic candidates for
Pure-Higgs states from the Lefschetz-Sommese theorem
We consider a special class of N=4 quiver quantum mechanics relevant in the description of BPS states of D4D0 branes in type II Calabi-Yau compactifications and the corresponding 4-dimensional black
Exact results in quiver quantum mechanics and BPS bound state counting
A bstractWe exactly evaluate the partition function (index) of N$$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 supersymmetric quiver quantum mechanics in the Higgs phase by using the localization techniques. We show that the
Corfu lectures on wall-crossing, multi-centered black holes, and quiver invariants
The BPS state spectrum in four-dimensional gauge theories or string vacua with N=2 supersymmetries is well known to depend on the values of the parameters or moduli at spatial infinity. The BPS index
Counting Trees in Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics
We study the supersymmetric ground states of the Kronecker model of quiver quantum mechanics. This is the simplest quiver with two gauge groups and bifundamental matter fields, and appears
Discrete integrable systems, supersymmetric quantum mechanics, and framed BPS states
Abstract It is possible to understand whether a given BPS spectrum is generated by a relevant deformation of a 4D $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 2 SCFT or of an asymptotically free theory from the
Mock modularity from black hole scattering states
A bstractThe exact degeneracies of quarter-BPS dyons in Type II string theory on K3 × T2 are given by Fourier coefficients of the inverse of the Igusa cusp form. For a fixed magnetic charge invariant
Conformal quivers and melting molecules
A bstractQuiver quantum mechanics describes the low energy dynamics of a system of wrapped D-branes. It captures several aspects of single and multicentered BPS black hole geometries in
Ab initio wall-crossing
We derive supersymmetric quantum mechanics of n BPS objects with 3n position degrees of freedom and 4n fermionic partners with SO(4) R-symmetry. The potential terms, essential and sufficient for the
Regge Trajectories in N = 2 Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory
We demonstrate that N = 2 supersymmetric non-Abelian gauge theories have towers of BPS particles obeying a Regge relation, J ∼ m, between their angular momenta, J, and their masses, m. For SU(N)

How Bob Laughlin tamed the giant graviton from Taub-NUT space
In this paper we show how two dimensional electron systems can be modeled by strings interacting with D-branes. The dualities of string theory allow several descriptions of the system. These include
Counting Yang-Mills Dyons with Index Theorems
We count the supersymmetric bound states of many distinct BPS monopoles in N=4 Yang-Mills theories and in pure N=2 Yang-Mills theories. The novelty here is that we work in generic Coulombic vacua
Dyons in N=4 supersymmetric theories and three-pronged strings
We construct and explore BPS states that preserve 1/4 of supersymmetry in N=4 Yang-Mills theories. Such states are also realized as three-pronged strings ending on D3-branes. We correct the electric
Phases of supersymmetric D-branes on Kähler manifolds and the McKay correspondence
We study the topological zero mode sector of type II strings on a Kahler manifold X in the presence of boundaries. We construct two nite bases, in a sense bosonic and fermionic, that generate the the

D-branes on Stringy Calabi-Yau Manifolds
We argue that D-branes corresponding to rational B boundary states in a Gepner model can be understood as fractional branes in the Landau-Ginzburg orbifold phase of the linear sigma model

D-brane dynamics and the quantum Hall effect
We study the recently proposed D-brane configuration [1] modeling the quantum Hall effect, focusing on the nature of the interactions between the charged particles. Our analysis indicates that the
Split attractor flows and the spectrum of BPS D-branes on the quintic
We investigate the spectrum of type-IIA BPS D-branes on the quintic from a four-dimensional supergravity perspective and the associated split attractor flow picture. We obtain some very concrete
