Very recently, quasi two-dimensional (2D) systems made of attractive fermionic alkali-metal atoms with a widely tunable interaction due to Fano-Feshbach resonances have been realized. In this way, it has been achieved the 2D crossover from the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer regime of weakly-interacting Cooper pairs to the Bose-Einstein condensate regime strongly bound dimers. These experiments pave the way to the investigation of 2D strongly-interacting attractive fermions during the Berezinskii…
Fermi-to-Bose crossover in a trapped quasi-2D gas of fermionic atoms.
This work presents simple theoretical models describing the gas at different points of the crossover and compares the data to more advanced models, as well as critical phenomena in the Fermi-to-Bose crossover.
A ug 2 01 7 Fermi-to-Bose crossover in a trapped quasi-2 D gas of fermionic atoms
Physics of many-body systems where particles are restricted to move in two spatial dimensions is challenging and even controversial: On one hand, neither long-range order nor Bose condensation may
Pseudogap regime of a two-dimensional uniform fermi gas
We investigate pseudogap phenomena in a two-dimensional Fermi gas. Including pairing fluctuations within a self-consistent T-matrix approximation, we determine the pseudogap temperature T* below
Lattice, Charge, and Spin Phase Inhomogeneity in Complex-Striped Quantum Matter
The Superstripes 2016 conference, held on June 23–29, 2016, in the island of Ischia in Italy celebrated the 20th anniversary of this series of conferences. For 20 years, structural, electronic, and
Substrate mediated nitridation of niobium into superconducting Nb2N thin films for phase slip study
A novel nitridation technique for transforming niobium into hexagonal Nb2N which appears to be superconducting below 1K is reported, emphasizing that Nb 2N offers unconventional superconductivity with promises in the field of phase slip based device applications.
Dimensional crossover in ultracold Fermi gases from functional renormalization
We investigate the dimensional crossover from three to two dimensions in an ultracold Fermi gas across the whole BCS-BEC crossover. Of particular interest is the strongly interacting regime as strong

Finite-temperature quantum fluctuations in two-dimensional Fermi superfluids
In two-dimensional systems with a continuous symmetry the Mermin-Wagner-Hohenberg theorem precludes spontaneous symmetry breaking and condensation at finite temperature. The
Observation of the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless Phase Transition in an Ultracold Fermi Gas.
It is shown that the spatial coherence of the entire trapped system can be characterized by a single temperature-dependent exponent, which suggests that the phase transitions in both the bosonic regime and the strongly interacting crossover regime are of Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless type and lie within the same universality class.
The BCS-BEC crossover and the unitary fermi gas
There has been great excitement about the recent experimental and theoretical progress in elucidating the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) to Bose Einstein condensation (BEC) crossover in ultracold
Composite bosons in the two-dimensional BCS-BEC crossover from Gaussian fluctuations
We study Gaussian fluctuations of the zero-temperature attractive Fermi gas in the 2D BCS-BEC crossover showing that they are crucial to get a reliable equation of state in the BEC regime of
Observation of Pair Condensation in the Quasi-2D BEC-BCS Crossover.
This experiment uses ultracold atoms as a generic model system to study the phase transition from a normal to a condensed phase in a strongly interacting quasi-two-dimensional Fermi gas and obtains the in situ pair momentum distribution of the strongly interacting system.
Superfluidity, sound velocity, and quasicondensation in the two-dimensional BCS-BEC crossover
We study finite-temperature properties of a two-dimensional superfluid made of ultracold alkali-metal atoms in the BCS-BEC crossover. We investigate the region below the critical temperature
Quantum fluctuations in the BCS-BEC crossover of two-dimensional Fermi gases
We present a theoretical study of the ground state of the BCS-BEC crossover in dilute two-dimensional Fermi gases. While the mean-field theory provides a simple and analytical equation of state, the
Equation of State of Ultracold Fermions in the 2D BEC-BCS Crossover Region.
We report the experimental measurement of the equation of state of a two-dimensional Fermi gas with attractive s-wave interactions throughout the crossover from a weakly coupled Fermi gas to a Bose
Exactly solvable model of the BCS-BEC crossover.
An integrable model of interacting fermions in one dimension that allows a complete description of the crossover from a BCS- to a Bose-like superfluid is discussed and an experimental realization with cold atoms of such a one-dimensional B CS-BEC crossover is proposed.
