A model of a ladder of Josephson junctions in a magnetic field is considered. The topological features of the zero-temperature phase diagram, as a function of charging energy and small deviations from commensurability of the vortex lattice, are strongly dependent on the field. In addition to superconductor-insulator transitions, commensurate-incommensurate transitions and depinning by quantum fluctuations of the vortex lattice are also possible. The critical behavior of the superconductor…

Quantum fluctuations in chains of Josephson junctions
We study the effect of quantum fluctuations of the phase on the low-temperature behavior of two models of Josephson junction chains with Coulomb interactions taken into account. The first model,
Superconductor-insulator transition and universal resistance in Josephson-junction arrays in a magnetic field.
TLDR
The zero-temperature superconducting transition in a Josephson-junction array with half of a flux quantum per plaquette is considered and the critical behavior and the value of the universal resistance at the transition are inferred.
Charging effects and quantum crossover in granular superconductors.
TLDR
It is argued that, in the presence of charge ordering, a nonmonotonic behavior with decreasing temperature is possible with a maximum in the resistance just before entering the superconducting phase.
Superconductor-to-Insulator Transitions in Non and Fully Frustrated Josephson-Junction Arrays
We have studied resistive transitions in Josephson-junction arrays with different values of x, the ratio of the Josephson coupling energy to the charging energy. In zero magnetic field, we find a

A ladder of Josephson junctions provides a realization of the discrete sine-Gordon chain. The spring constant and incommensurability can be varied by the supercurrent and the magnetic field. As the

We argue that whenever the transition between the insulating and superconducting phases of a disordered two-dimensional Fermi system at zero temperature ({ital T}=0) is continuous, the system behaves
Charging effects and quantum coherence in regular Josephson junction arrays.
TLDR
Two-dimensional arrays of very-small-capacitance Josephson junctions show a transition from superconducting to insulating behavior when the ratio of charging energy to Josephson-coupling energy exceeds the value 1, and this shape is predicted to arise from macroscopic quantum coherent effects including Bloch oscillations.
Onset of superconductivity in the two-dimensional limit.
The onset of superconductivity in homogeneous ultrathin films is found to occur when their normal-state sheet resistance falls below a value close to h/4e/sup 2/, the quantum resistance for pairs.

TLDR
It is found that, unlike the previous studied case of equal interchain and intrachain coupling constants, the Ising-like excitations of the quantum model decouple for large interchain coupling, giving rise to pure Ising model critical behavior for the chirality order parameter and a superconductor-insulator transition in the universality class of the two-dimensional classical $\mathrm{XY}$ model.
