We compute the one-loop quantum corrections to the potential of ghost-free massive gravity. We show how the mass of external matter fields contributes to the running of the cosmological constant, but does not change the ghost-free structure of the massive gravity potential at one-loop. When considering gravitons running in the loops, we show how the structure of the potential gets destabilized at the quantum level, but in a way which would never involve a ghost with a mass smaller than the…

New kinetic interactions for massive gravity?

We show that there can be no new Lorentz invariant kinetic interactions free from the Boulware–Deser ghost in four dimensions in the metric formulation of gravity, beyond the standard

Quantum corrections in Galileon theories

We calculate the one-loop quantum corrections in the cubic Galileon theory, by using cutoff regularization. We confirm the expected form of the one-loop effective action and that the couplings of the

Deconstructing dimensions and massive gravity

We show that the ghost-free models of massive gravity and their multi-graviton extensions follow from considering higher dimensional General Relativity in Einstein–Cartan form on a discrete extra

Horndeski under the quantum loupe

With recent constraints on the propagation speed of gravitational waves, the class of scalar-tensor theories has significantly been reduced. We consider one of the surviving models still relevant for

Interactions of charged spin-2 fields

In light of recent progress in ghost-free theories of massive gravity and multi-gravity, we reconsider the problem of constructing a ghost-free theory of an interacting spin-2 field charged under a

Supersymmetric Massive Gravity

: We initiate a systematic study of the self-interactions of a massive spin-2 “graviton” consistent with up to N = 4 supersymmetry. Using a recently developed massive on-shell superspace formalism,

On couplings to matter in massive (bi-)gravity

We investigate the coupling to matter in ghost-free massive (bi-)gravity. When species in the matter sector couple covariantly to only one metric, we show that at one-loop these couplings do not

RG of GR from on-shell amplitudes

Abstract We study the renormalization group of generic effective field theories that include gravity. We follow the on-shell amplitude approach, which provides a simple and efficient method to

Doubly coupled matter fields in massive bigravity

In the context of massive (bi-)gravity, non-minimal matter couplings have been proposed. These couplings are special in the sense that they are free of the Boulware-Deser ghost below the strong

Derivative couplings in massive bigravity

In this work we study the cosmological perturbations in massive bigravity in the presence of non-minimal derivative couplings. For this purpose we consider a specific subclass of Horndeski

Ghosts in massive gravity

In the context of Lorentz-invariant massive gravity we show that classical solutions around heavy sources are plagued by ghost instabilities. The ghost shows up in the effective field theory at huge

Quantum aspects of massive gravity

We consider the effect of quantum interactions on Pauli–Fierz massive gravity. With generic graviton cubic interactions, we observe that the 1-loop counterterms do not conform to the tree level

Resummation of massive gravity.

TLDR
Four-dimensional covariant nonlinear theories of massive gravity are constructed which are ghost-free in the decoupling limit to all orders, and the Hamiltonian constraint is maintained at least up to and including quartic order in nonlinearities, hence excluding the possibility of the Boulware-Deser ghost up to this order.

Strong interactions and exact solutions in nonlinear massive gravity

We investigate strong coupling effects in a covariant massive gravity model, which is a candidate for a ghost-free non-linear completion of Fierz-Pauli. We analyse the conditions to recover general

Resolving the ghost problem in nonlinear massive gravity.

TLDR
It is shown that, in the entire two-parameter family of actions, the Hamiltonian constraint is maintained at the complete nonlinear level and this implies the absence of the pathological Boulware-Deser ghost to all orders.

Nonlinear properties of vielbein massive gravity

We propose a nonlinear extension of the Fierz–Pauli mass for the graviton through a functional of the vielbein and an external Minkowski background. The functional generalizes the notion of the

Analytic solutions in nonlinear massive gravity.

We study spherically symmetric solutions in a covariant massive gravity model, which is a candidate for a ghost-free nonlinear completion of the Fierz-Pauli theory. There is a branch of solutions
