Motivated by the interpretation of the Ooguri-Strominger-Vafa conjecture as a holographic correspondence in the mini-superspace approximation, we study the radial quantization of stationary, spherically symmetric black holes in four dimensions. A key ingredient is the classical equivalence between the radial evolution equation and geodesic motion of a fiducial particle on the moduli space M*3 of the three-dimensional theory after reduction along the time direction. In the case of N = 2…

Twistors and black holes

Motivated by black hole physics in N=2, D=4 supergravity, we study the geometry of quaternionic-Kahler manifolds M obtained by the c-map construction from projective special Kahler manifolds M_s.

Extremal black holes, nilpotent orbits and the true fake superpotential

Dimensional reduction along time offers a powerful way to study stationary solutions of 4D symmetric supergravity models via group-theoretical methods. We apply this approach systematically to

SAM Lectures on Extremal Black Holes in d = 4 Extended Supergravity

We report on recent results in the study of extremal black hole attractors in N = 2, d = 4 ungauged Maxwell–Einstein supergravities. For homogeneous symmetric scalar manifolds, the three general

The Attractor Mechanism - ReadingSample

We report on recent results in the study of extremal black hole attractors in N D 2, d D 4 ungauged Maxwell–Einstein supergravities. For homogeneous symmetric scalar manifolds, the three general

N = 4 BPS black holes and octonionic twistors

Stationary, spherically symmetric solutions of = 2 supergravity in 3+1 dimensions have been shown to correspond to holomorphic curves on the twistor space of the quaternionic-Kahler space which

Automorphic instanton partition functions on Calabi-Yau threefolds

We survey recent results on quantum corrections to the hypermultiplet moduli space ℳ in type IIA/B string theory on a compact Calabi-Yau threefold X, or, equivalently, the vector multiplet moduli

Universal BPS structure of stationary supergravity solutions

We study asymptotically flat stationary solutions of four-dimensional supergravity theories via the associated G/H ∗ pseudo-Riemannian non-linear sigma models in three spatial dimensions. The Noether

BPS black holes, quantum attractor flows and automorphic forms

We propose a program for counting microstates of four-dimensional BPS black holes in N{>=}2 supergravities with symmetric-space valued scalars by exploiting the symmetries of timelike reduction to

Twistors and black holes

Motivated by black hole physics in N=2, D=4 supergravity, we study the geometry of quaternionic-Kahler manifolds M obtained by the c-map construction from projective special Kahler manifolds M_s.

Two Dimensional Yang-Mills, Black Holes and Topological Strings

We show that topological strings on a class of non-compact Calabi-Yau threefolds is equivalent to two dimensional bosonic U(N) Yang-Mills on a torus. We explain this correspondence using the recent

BPS black hole degeneracies and minimal automorphic representations

We discuss the degeneracies of 4D and 5D BPS black holes in toroidal compactifications of M-theory or type-II string theory, using U-duality as a tool. We generalize the 4D/5D lift to include all

Topological wave functions and heat equations

It is generally known that the holomorphic anomaly equations in topological string theory reflect the quantum mechanical nature of the topological string partition function. We present two new

Attractors and the Holomorphic Anomaly

Motivated by the recently proposed connection between N=2 BPS black holes and topological strings, I study the attractor equations and their interplay with the holomorphic anomaly equation. The

Supersymmetric states of N=4 Yang-Mills from giant gravitons

Mikhailov has constructed an infinite family of 1 BPS D3-branes in AdS5 × S 5 . We regulate Mikhailov's solution space by focussing on finite dimensional submani- folds. Our submanifolds are

Fermions from half-BPS supergravity

We discuss collective coordinate quantization of the half-BPS geometries of Lin, Lunin and Maldacena [1]. The LLM geometries are parameterized by a single function u on a plane. We treat this
