Sex differences in basal extracellular striatal dopamine concentrations in gonadectomized male and female rats have been reported previously. In the current experiment, estrous cycle-dependent variation, sex differences and the effect of gonadectomy on extracellular striatal dopamine concentrations were determined using quantitative microdialysis.
