Changes of amino acid concentrations in the vestibular nuclear complex (VNC) during lesion-induced vestibular compensation were studied in rats after unilateral vestibular ganglionectomy. Distributions of 12 amino acids within the VNC were measured at 2,4,7, and 30 days after surgery, using microdissection of freeze-dried brain sections and HPLC.
