The Quality of Experience (QoE) is a key element in the search for rapid growth of three-dimensional video technology. Research concerning the study of QoE in a 3D environment is on the move. This paper proposes a review of 3D QoE specificities. We will also present the actual findings in this area as well as the projects in process around the world. Thus, any researcher wishing to know more about this domain will be able to start with the foundations necessary to understand the issues related…

3D Quality is More Than Just the Sum of 2D And Depth
The goal of this paper is to review recent developments in 3D quality assessment and discuss future directions in this young research fields.
Emerging Research Directions on 3D Video Quality Assessment
The current state of the research on the emerging problem of the user perceived quality of 3D content is discussed.
Changes and additions in the requirements for subjective assessment are proposed in order to develop a novel subjective video quality assessment methodology for 3DTV.
Towards certification of 3D video quality assessment
This case study is used in an early attempt to define a process for certification of subjective test campaigns, based on a cross-validation of the test results across different laboratories, towards the ultimate goal of Quality of Experience (QoE) certification.

This paper presents details of a system that allows for an evolutionary introduction of depth perception into the existing 2D digital TV framework and the efficient generation of high-quality "virtual" stereoscopic views and the backwards-compatible compression and transmission of 3D imagery using state-of-the-art MPEG tools.
The Evolution of Video Quality Measurement: From PSNR to Hybrid Metrics
The main standardization activities are summarized, such as the work of the video quality experts group (VQEG), and a look at emerging trends in quality measurement, including image preference, visual attention, and audiovisual quality.
Influence of depth rendering on the quality of experience for an autostereoscopic display
The results indicate that the degradation by the depth rendering process may easily dominate the added value of depth in a content specific manner.
A comprehensive database and subjective evaluation methodology for quality of experience in stereoscopic video
A comprehensive stereoscopic video database that contains a large variety of scenes captured using a stereoscopic camera setup consisting of two HD camcorders with different capture parameters and provides subjective quality scores obtained using a tailored single stimulus continuous quality scale (SSCQS) method.
Subjective evaluation of scalable video coding for content distribution
This paper investigates the influence of the combination of the scalability parameters in scalable video coding (SVC) schemes on the subjective visual quality. We aim at providing guidelines for an
