This work proposes a qualitative representation for bifurcation diagrams with two varying parameters. We start from a previous defined representation for a single parameter bifurcation diagram and add the necessary definitions/constraints to extend it. In order to give sense to our proposed representation for bifurcation diagrams an algorithm to perform qualitative simulations is given; this algorithm is based on behavioural inference rules for a system going through dynamic events. The…

We explore the use of qualitative reasoning to predict the behaviour of a dynamical system given a change in one of its parameters based upon a qualitative representation of its bifurcation diagram.

A model of a power system with load dynamics is studied by investigating qualitative changes in its behavior as the reactive power demand at a load bus is increased. In addition to the saddle node

A new dynamical mechanism for voltage collapse is determined: the boundary crisis of a strange attractor or synonymously a chaotic blue sky bifurcation for an example power system model akin to one studied in several recent papers.

A novel approach to non-linear black-box system identification which combines Qualitative Reasoning (QR) methods with fuzzy logic systems, where fuzzy rules are automatically generated by encoding the knowledge of the system dynamics described by the outcomes of its qualitative simulation.
