The mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODase), the single redox reaction in the pyrimidine de novo synthetic pathway, was purified to near homogeneity by detergent solubilization and fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) techniques from the mature trophozoites and schizonts of Plasmodium falciparum, human malaria parasite.
