Almost all P2P crypto-currencies prevent double spending and similar such attacks with a bulky “blockchain” scheme, and the ones which do not typically use some sort of pseudo-centralized solution to manage the transactions. Here I propose a purely P2P crypto-currency scheme with a finite blockchain, dubbed the “mini-blockchain”. Each time a new block is solved the oldest block is trimmed from the end of the miniblockchain so that it always has the same number of blocks. It is argued that the…

Figures from this paper

A Secure Storage Strategy for Blockchain Based on MCMC Algorithm
TLDR
A security strategy for distributed storage blockchains, which can delete part of blockchains so that nodes only store part of a blockchain, and a kind of semi-full node between full node and light node according to the requirement of the strategy.
Exploring the Blockchain Technology: Issues, Applications and Research Potential
TLDR
A systematic and comprehensive review of architecture and working of the blockchain along with its types and important characteristics and the areas in which the work can be done in future are pointed in this paper.
Bitcoin Blockchain Compression Algorithm for Blank Node Synchronization
TLDR
Simulations show that the proposed method to compress the size of transactions in the Bitcoin Blockchain by replacing hash pointers with index pointers can reduce the storage space of the Bitcoin blockchain by up to 12.71%.
Research on Optimization Model of Storage Capacity Based on the Consortium Blockchain
TLDR
An optimization model of storage capacity based on the consortium blockchain (OMSCCB) and a replacement strategy of full node to ensure that the OMSCCB can resume normal operation when the network is attacked are proposed.
Towards Reference Architecture for Cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin Architectural Analysis

  • Computer Science
2014 IEEE International Conference on Internet of Things(iThings), and IEEE Green Computing and Communications (GreenCom) and IEEE Cyber, Physical and Social Computing (CPSCom)
  • 2014
TLDR
An up-to-date protocol specification and architectural analysis of the Bit coin system is provided and whether the current architecture satisfies the system's primary purpose is discussed, i.e., Providing a pure decentralized version of the crypto currency.
Accelerating Bitcoin's Transaction Processing. Fast Money Grows on Trees, Not Chains
TLDR
The block generation rate can be securely increased to more than one block per second – a 600 fold speedup compared to today’s rate, while still allowing the network to processes many transactions per second.
A supply chain traceability system for food safety based on HACCP, blockchain & Internet of things
  • Feng Tian
  • Computer Science
2017 International Conference on Service Systems and Service Management
  • 2017
TLDR
A food supply chain traceability system for real-time food tracing based on HACCP, blockchain and Internet of things, which could provide an information platform for all the supply chain members with openness, transparency, neutrality, reliability and security is built and a new concept BigchainDB is introduced to fill the gap in the decentralized systems at scale.
Cryptographic Currencies Crash Course (C4): Tutorial
TLDR
This tutorial aims to further close the gap between IT security research and the area of cryptographic currencies and block chains and describes and refers to Bitcoin as an example throughout the tutorial, as it is the most prominent representative of a such a system.
LocalCoin: An ad-hoc payment scheme for areas with high connectivity: poster
TLDR
LocalCoin is proposed, an alternative cryptocurrency that requires minimal computational resources, produces low data traffic and works with off-the-shelf mobile devices and incorporates characteristics of mobile networks such as users' locations and their coverage radius in order to employ an alternative proof-of-work scheme.
Can We Stabilize the Price of a Cryptocurrency?: Understanding the Design of Bitcoin and Its Potential to Compete with Central Bank Money
This paper discusses the potential and limitations of Bitcoin as a digital currency. Bitcoin as a digital asset has been extensively discussed from the viewpoints of engineering and security design.
