Pulmonary malakoplakia is a disease that is difficult to diagnose because its symptoms vary from those mimicking bronchogenic carcinoma to pneumonitis-like tuberculous infections. Malakoplakia is an unusual inflammatory condition characterized by the accumulation of macrophages with diagnostic Michaelis-Gutmann bodies.
