To isolate differential motion sensitivity from the contaminating effects of position sensitivity, we used a field of random dots undergoing a differential shearing motion. Movement threshold amplitude vs temporal frequency showed ‘L slope of 1 on double-logarithmic coordinates, confirming that the detection was based on motion rather than on positional information.
