There are no agreed definitions of the terms ’apocrypha’ and *pseudepigrapha’ in either biblical or Slavic studies. In the narrowest sense of the word, ’apocrypha’ are writings of secondary status and authority, compared with an official canon. So writings that are canonical for Catholic and Orthodox may be apocrypha for Protestants; and those that are apocrypha for the former may be ’pseudepigrapha&dquo; for the latter.
