title={Proximate composition and energetic value of selected marine fish and shellfish from the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia},
  author={Azlan Azrina and Amin Ismail},
This study was conducted to determine the proximate composition and energetic value of selected marine fish and shellfish from the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. This study has included 20 species of fish (10 pelagic fish and 10 demersal fish) and 4 species of shellfish. For pelagic fish, Longtail shad (terubuk) was found to contain significantly lower moisture (59.31+0.00%), but significantly higher fat content (23.15+0.00%) compared to other fish species. For demersal fish, moisture and…

Proximate and Major Mineral Composition of 23 Medium Sized Marine Fin Fishes Landed in the Thoothukudi Coast of India
Twenty three marine fin fishes landed in Thoothukudi Coast of India were examined for their proximate and major mineral composition to determine their nutrition value and the total energy value seemed too high for Leiognathus dussumieri and D Mussumieri acuta.
Proximate composition and microbiological study of five marine fish species consumed in Gabon
The aim of the current study was to determine proximate composition (protein, lipid, ash and moisture), energy and microbiological spoilage in five fish species. The chemical analysis revealed that
Mercury levels of marine fish commonly consumed in Peninsular Malaysia
The results showed that mercury concentrations were found significantly higher in demersal fish compared to pelagic fish and were positively related with fish size (length and weight) in all fish samples.
Proximate chemical composition and lipid profile of Indian mackerel fish
Mackerel is a fatty fish and a good source of marine lipids; thus, increasing the consumption of this fish is good for human health and the high levels of amino acids, fatty acids, minerals and vitamins in this fish play a positive role in human nutrition.
Nutritional Composition of Sea Cucumber Isostichopus sp.
The knowledge of the chemical composition of invertebrates as sea cucumber contributes to improving our understanding of these living organisms. This study compared the chemical composition of wild
Are pufferfishes a viable source of nutritional value for human consumption—an investigation on recently commercialized marine pufferfishes (Tetraodontidae: Tetraodontiformes)
Estimation of the nutritional profile of edible fishes is essential, and thus, we have evaluated nutritional composition and amino and fatty acids profiling of recently commercialized marine
Consumption of marine and estuarine fish provides an inexpensive source of protein with a high biological value, essential mineral and vitamins, and the biochemical composition is the yard stick to measure and assess the nutritional quality of food sources.
Macro and micronutrients of selected marine fishes in Tuticorin , South East coast of India
The levels of macro and micro nutrients in the edible portions of some commercially important fin fishes were determined using the methods recommended by Association of Official Analytical Chemists
Biochemical Quality Assessment of Fish Powder
Major nutrient compositions of powder products such as protein, lipid, moisture, ash, carbohydrate, phosphorus, iron and calcium were estimated and chemical compositions were found to vary among the species.

Proximate composition and energetic value of demersal and pelagic prey species from the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean
The energetic value of teleosts from the Southwestern Atlantic Ocean was not different from those of the Pacific or Indian Southern Ocean, but was higher than the energetic value from the Northern Hemisphere.
Proximate composition of some north-eastern Pacific forage fish species
To understand the relative dietary value of forage fish as prey in the Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska, whole organisms of 13 species were analysed for proximate composition (protein, oil, ash and moisture content) and a linear model was developed for caloric content as a function of moisture.

Fatty acid content and composition of freshwater finfish
The anterior ventral regions of trout and salmon contained more lipids than the posterior dorsal sections, and significant quantities of ω6 C18:2 and C20:4 fatty acids were found in several species.
Food Consumption Patterns: Findings from the Malaysian Adult Nutrition Survey (MANS).
The food consumption pattern of Malaysian adults appears to be satisfactory, however, some changes in food habits are recommended especially in substituting the less wholesome sweetened condensed milk with the more nutritious full cream or skimmed milk.
Seafood: Effects of Technology on Nutrition

A rapid method of total lipid extraction and purification.
The lipid decomposition studies in frozen fish have led to the development of a simple and rapid method for the extraction and purification of lipids from biological materials that has been applied to fish muscle and may easily be adapted to use with other tissues.
