Abstract Proximal femoral focal deficiency is a rare anomaly, occurring with a frequency of approximately 1/50,000–2,00,000 live births. This congenital anomaly characterized by failure of normal development of the proximal femur and hip joint, and usually seen with fibular aplasia/hypoplasia. Proximal femoral focal deficiency is considered to be the main anomaly involved in congenital asymmetry of the lower limbs.
