Objectives To identify differential protein expression pattern associated with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods Twenty women were recruited for the study, ten with PCOS as a test group and ten without PCOS as a control group. Differential in-gel electrophoresis (DIGE) analysis and mass spectroscopy were employed to identify proteins that were differentially expressed between the PCOS and normal ovaries. The differentially expressed proteins were further validated by western blot (WB…

S100‐A9 protein in exosomes derived from follicular fluid promotes inflammation via activation of NF‐κB pathway in polycystic ovary syndrome
- BiologyJournal of cellular and molecular medicine

It is shown that follicular fluid exosomes contain S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100‐A9) protein, which significantly enhanced inflammation and disrupted steroidogenesis via activation of nuclear factor kappa B (NF‐κB) signalling pathway.

It is suggested that apolipoprotein A-I can be useful as a granulosa cell biomarker of PCOS patients and that downregulated ApoA-I may be related to the disturbed production of steroid hormones in PCos patients.
