Constitutive secretion of heparan sulphate proteoglycans (HSPGs) was stimulated in human hepatoma HepG2 cells by phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate (PMA) and inhibited by calphostin C, a specific inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC).
