Protein immunohistochemistry as a means of unravelling the mysteries of fracture repair.

Abstract

The repair of a closed fracture of the adult tibial diaphysis was studied by an immunohistochemical technique which localized bone sialoprotein in situ. Immunoreactivity was observed in newly formed bone trabeculae, in the periosteum and endosteum and in the callus cartilage.
