Recent molecular studies on anchoring structures between myelin sheaths by glial cells (oligodendrocytes and Schwann cells (Sc) in the central (CNS) and peripheral nervous system (PNS), respectively) and axons indicated protein-protein interaction for the polarization of paranodes in the axons.
