OBJECTIVE To investigate the potential neuroprotective effect of maternal pentoxifylline (PNTX) treatment in endotoxin-induced periventricular leukomalasia (PVL) in the developing rat brain. METHOD Intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide was administered on two of three Wistar pregnant rats to establish PVL.
