The present study was designed to investigate the role of combined administration of Ramipril and Candesartan against in vitro myocardial ischemic reperfusion injury in rat. Male Wistar albino rats were divided into five groups (n = 6) and treated with saline (10 mL/kg), Ramipril (2 mg/kg), Candesartan (1 mg/kg), and the combination of both drugs, respectively 24 h before induction of global ischemia (5 min of stabilization, 9 min of global ischemia, and 12 min of reflow). Combination of…
CoQ10 augments candesartan protective effect against tourniquet-induced hind limb ischemia-reperfusion: Involvement of non-classical RAS and ROS pathways
TLDR
CoQ10 enhanced the beneficial effect of candesartan in a model of tourniquet-induced HLI/R by affecting classical and non-classical renin-angiotensin system (RAS) pathway, the first study showing the impact of CoQ10 on skeletal muscle RAS in rats.
Candesartan in a rat model of testicular toxicity: New insight on its protective mechanism
TLDR
Cisplatin-induced testicular toxicity was investigated and candesartan mitigated the gonadotoxicity induced by cisplatin via antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and antiapoptotic actions.
Hypertension potentiates cataractogenesis in rat eye through modulation of oxidative stress and electrolyte homeostasis
TLDR
It can be concluded that systemic hypertension significantly increases the risk of cataract formation in the rat eyes via modulation of the antioxidant defense mechanism and electrolyte homeostasis.

Cardioprotection of ramipril and BQ-123 against myocardial ischemia/reperfusion oxidative injury in vivo in rats
TLDR
The protective effects of the combination on delaying onset ofVA, shortening duration of VA,decreasing infarct size and content of MDA, and increasing activity of SOD are better than those of using ramipril or BQ-123 alone.
Chronic garlic administration protects rat heart against oxidative stress induced by ischemic reperfusion injury
TLDR
The study strongly suggests that chronic garlic administration prevents oxidative stress and associated ultrastructural changes, induced by myocardial ischemic-reperfusion injury.
Captopril and ramiprilat protect against free radical injury in isolated working rat hearts.

TLDR
It is concluded that ACE inhibitors can protect against free radical-induced myocardial damage and may exert additional anti-free radical effects by a mechanism which is probably related to the sulfhydryl group.
Influence of ramiprilat and losartan on ischemia reperfusion injury in rat hearts
TLDR
The data indicate that losartan and ramiprilat protect the heart against ischemia/reperfusion injury independently of their hemodynamic effects but in a time-dependent manner.
Effect of Ramiprilat or Captopril on Myocardial Infarct Size: Assessment in Canine Models of Ischemia Alone and Ischemia with Reperfusion
TLDR
Neither captopril nor ramiprilat protected the heart from injury under conditions of ischemia with reperfusion or ischemies without reperfusions.
Effect of verapamil post-treatment in myocardial reperfusion injury.
TLDR
Verapamil post-treatment can prevent reperfusion-induced myocardial injury but functional recovery may be delayed due to the drug's inherent direct myocardia depressant effect.
Effect of chronic treatment with bark of Terminalia arjuna: a study on the isolated ischemic-reperfused rat heart.
TLDR
It is suggested that crude bark of TA augments endogenous antioxidant compounds of rat heart and also prevents oxidative stress associated with IRI of the heart.
The relationship between oxygen radical generation and impairment of myocardial energy metabolism following post-ischemic reperfusion.
TLDR
In reperfused hearts peak oxygen radical generation is followed by the occurrence of alterations in the recovery of high energy phosphate metabolism, providing strong support for a link between oxygen free radical generation and post-ischemic reperfusion injury.
Nitric Oxide Mechanism of Protection in Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury
TLDR
This paper will focus on the mechanistic actions of NO in ischemia and reperfusion injury, along with the compound's potential therapeutic benefits.
Nitric oxide in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury.
TLDR
Future research on the importance of NO in ischemia/reperfusion injury will have to focus more precisely on the identification and standardization of potential confounding experimental factors that influence synthesis, transport, and interaction of NO with various targets in blood and tissue.
