Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effects of bioflavonoid compounds i.e. rutin and naringin on gentamycin induced testicular oxidative stress in rats. Method: A total of 42 male wistar albino rats were divided in to 7 groups, each contains 6 rats. Gentamycin, 5 mg/kg, I.P was administered to the rats from day 1 to day 10. Rutin and naringin were given in different doses (5mg/kg, 10/kg) for a period of 35 days from day 1 to day 35 to the gentamycin treated animals. A…

Protective Effect of Dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale ) Extract Against Gentamicin-Induced Reproductive Damage in Male Rats

Short-term administration of GS causes lipid peroxidative damages in testes as well as decreases in sperm motility, however, TOE has a moderate ameliorative effect on sperm motilty reductions, but marked improvement effect on lipid per oxidative testicular damages induced by GS.

Ameliorating Effects of Curcumin and Propolis against the Reproductive Toxicity of Gentamicin in Adult Male Guinea Pigs: Quantitative Analysis and Morphological Study

It can be concluded that, the gentamicin even at therapeutic dose can have adverse impacts on male reproduction and administration of propolis or curcumin can ameliorate these effects.

Ameliorative effects of rutin against cisplatin-induced reproductive toxicity in male rats

It is indicated that rutin co-treatment could ameliorate cisplatin-induced reproductive toxicity in male rats and resulted in reversing cisPlatin effect on DNA damage, sperm count, histological and biochemical parameters.

Rutin Ameliorates Cyclophosphamide-induced Reproductive Toxicity in Male Rats

It appears that RUT ameliorates CYC reproductive toxicity at the investigated dose, and prevents lower sperm counts, sperm motility, DSP, and higher abnormal sperm numbers induced by CYC.

Effect of Stem Cell Therapy on Gentamicin Induced Testicular Dysfunction in Rats

Mesenchymal stem cells administration significantly improved all altered testicular parameters, where values of group IV (except testicular estradiol) were not significantly different from those of control group (I).

Efek Vitamin C Terhadap Jumlah Spermatozoa Mencit Yang Diinduksi Gentamisin. 2014.

The conclusion of this study is that vitamin C significantly increases the percentage spermatozoa count to 60.3 % in gentamicin-induced mice.

Results showed that sarang semut tubers infusion at the dose of 1, 2, and 4g/kgBW reduced BUN and creatinine levels on induced-nephrotoxic rats andRat histological profile of the three doses tratment showed improvement in renal cell after administration of sarang Semut infusion for 7 days.

Biological Activity of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. Extracts

C. coronarium has a significant hepatoprotective activity and improve fertility at 400mg/kg, and shows significant improvement of the relative weight of reproductive organs, sperm count, sperm motility, total sperm abnormality, testosterone and LH.

Protective effect of urapidil on testicular torsion–detorsion injury in rats

The administration of urapidil before detorsion prevents ischemia/reperfusion cellular damage in testicular tissue and low-molecular weight heparin was not found to have a beneficial effect on testicular T/D injury in rats.

Histoprotective effect of rutin against cisplatin-induced toxicities in tumor-bearing mice: Rutin lessens cisplatin-induced toxicities

The present findings demonstrate that rutin has histoprotective ability against cisplatin-induced toxicities in tumor-bearing mice.

GS induces an oxidative stress-status in the testis by increasing free radical formation and lipid peroxidation, and by decreasing the antioxidant reserves, and also affects the spermatozoa by affecting their number, motility and morphology.

Gentamicin, Streptomycin and Ofloxacin have negative effects on testis architecture and germinal cells damages in rats, however, these side effects are seen less in the StrePTomycin group, and it is recommended that usage of this drug have fewer side effects on male fertility.

[Antioxidation activity and protective effection of ginger oil on DNA damage in vitro].

Ginger oil might act as a scavenger of oxygen radical and might be used as an antioxidant and has dominantive protective effect on DNA damage induced by H2O2.

Inhibitory effects of flavonoids on xanthine oxidase.

Nine naturally occurring flavonoids have been tested the inhibitory effects on xanthine oxidase, and baicalein displayed the strongest activity, followed by wogonin and then baicalin, which induced uncompetitive inhibition of the enzyme with respect to xanhtine.

Bioflavonoids as antiradicals, antioxidants and DNA cleavage protectors

The bioflavonoids under examination showed a dose-dependent free-radical scavenging effect, a significant inhibition of xanthine oxidase activity, and an antilipoperoxidative capacity, and showed a protective effect on DNA cleavage.

The correlation between active oxygens scavenging and antioxidative effects of flavonoids.

Gentamicin-induced ototoxicity in hemodialysis patients is ameliorated by N-acetylcysteine.

It is suggested that NAC treatment may ameliorate gentamicin-induced ototoxicity in hemodialysis patients and be noticed in the high audiometric tone frequencies.

Effects of flavonoids on xanthine oxidation as well as on cytochrome c reduction by milk xanthine oxidase.

Flavonoids inhibit xanthine oxidase from cow milk was confirmed by measuring oxygen consumption with an oxygen electrode and the partition rates of the flavonoids between n-butanol and a buffer solution seemed to account for some of the inhibition.

Cardioprotective actions of two bioflavonoids, quercetin and rutin, in experimental myocardial infarction in both normal and streptozotocin‐induced type I diabetic rats

This work attempted to evaluate the cardioprotective actions of quercetin and rutin in ischaemia‐reperfusion‐induced myocardial infarction in both normal and diabetic rats.
