Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is known to be associated with post-weaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PMWS), a recently described disease of young pigs. Since no PCV2 vaccine was available so far, we have developed a specific PCV2 vaccine candidate. The Orf1-encoded replication protein and Orf2-encoded capsid protein of PCV2 were expressed and detected in either mammalian or insect expression systems.
