Vibrio anguillarum is one of the causative agents of vibriosis, a systemic disease of fish characterized by acute hemorrhagic septicemia. The extracellular zinc metalloprotease (EmpA) is a putative virulence factor involved in pathogenicity of V. anguillarum.
